The election is over and Murray and I counted and confirmed the ballots. Congratulations to Brian Onigkeit who will serve on the executive board for two years.
On behalf of the current e-board I want to thank both Chris and Brian for stepping up and being willing to serve our membership. I also would like to thank all of you for voting and helping with the process.
If there is anything that you can think of that will help with elections in the future, please send me an e-mail. We will use this feedback to update our current policy. There are three things that we have already identified and may implement after discussion:
1) Provide and explanation of the position that is open and what duties are expected of those running.
2) Have the candidates send out a brief paragraph on why they are running and what they hope to accomplish.
3) Provide a way for crews or individuals to seal their votes to keep the ballots more secure.
This years St. Patricks day is scheduled for Saturday March 17th, 2012. The details are still being worked out, but once again it appears that the Local and the Terry Fund may be teaming up again this year since last years event was such a huge success.

Thank you to all of the firefighters who participated in this year Fill the Boot drive for MDA. PFA Raised over $18,000 by "filling the boot" along with other activities including the rib eating contest hosted by the Texas Roadhouse as well as an auction.
Lets not forget to thank Dan Santillanes who spends countless hours in making this a success.
The money will stay within the region to help people in need suffering from MD.
On Sunday September 25th at 1200 noon, we will be hosting the 5th annual Rib Eating Contest at the Texas Roadhouse to benefit MDA. This year we have already made huge progress in securing K99 radio. They have agreed to "promote" the event on the air 2 weeks prior to the event.

The 2011 IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011, in Colorado Springs Colorado.
Jim VanGorder does an excelent job in organizing the rooms, and transportation for the Local. This year the local has purchased a few rooms. If you are interested in attending please contact JIm Van Gorder for details.
The mission of the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial, which is located in the shadow of Pike’s Peak, is to honor the sacrifice made by IAFF members who serve as professional fire fighters and emergency medical personnel who have given their lives in the line of duty.
Since its creation in 1976 through June 2010, the names of 2,410 fallen IAFF members have been engraved into the wall of honor located behind the memorial.
The IAFF will ensure that the ceremony remains an uplifting one for the families, friends and loved ones, and that it celebrates the lives, heroism and accomplishments of our union’s bravest of the brave.
